About Delaware
Delaware is a state in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States, bordering Maryland to the south and west, Pennsylvania to the north, New Jersey to the northeast, and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. Originally inhabited by several Native American tribes, including the Lenape and Nanticoke, before being colonized by Dutch, then British, in the 16th century. The state was one of the thirteen colonies that participated in the American Revolution and the American Revolutionary War, in which British colonization was brought to an end. On 7 December 1787, Delaware was the first state to ratify the Constitution of the United States, earning it the nickname of 'The First State'. Over the years, Delaware has been known as the chemical capital, the corporate capital, and the credit-card capital of the United States.
